Their bodies continue to die and be reborn, but their souls are immortal - and upon reaching the seventeenth year, the reincarnated body 'awakens,' receiving all memoirs of the previous lives and the Vampire legacy. Really, they aren't 'vampires' at all - these 'Vampires' are in reality, the fallen angels from Lucifer's war, banished to walk the same earth as the mortals when the Light triumphed.
